Tiny House Trailer Arrival Posted on May 22, 2023May 22, 2023 By themilesfiles The tiny house trailer is here!!! It’s 24′ x 10′ with an 8′ gooseneck platform. I bought it from Joshua at Tiny House Basics. I ordered the trailer back in December 2022 knowing that it wouldn’t be ready until at least March 2023. As you can see from this blog, I’ve been pretty busy prepping land and getting things aligned before the build, so there was definitely no rush. While gooseneck trailers are great for maneuvering and hauling, they can get a bit tricky with hills. The plan is to build the house at Doug and Debby’s barn (which has all the needed tools and can store the materials we need to build). There’s a dip in front of the entryway gate, so we had some challenges getting the trailer in. Tiny House Basics connected me with Coast to Coast to deliver the trailer. When trying to back the trailer in past the hill, the gooseneck platform started pressing against the delivery truck’s flat bed. He was at least able to get it all the way through the gate. Not too bad, but we really wanted it parked on the slab behind the barn. Luckily, Doug is super creative. He figured we could use his tractor to push the trailer where we wanted it. I was worried about basic things like safety, but Doug was undeterred. With physics on his side, he was able to push the trailer so that it faced the barn. He then drove around to the other side to push the trailer onto the slab. Success! It looks smaller in person, but it is a tiny house after all. Overall, I’m super happy with the trailer. I chose to purchase my trailer from Tiny House Basics because I liked the idea of the crossbeams acting as a subfloor. Some of the pipes will run underneath the floor, so we’ll add 2x4s on these cross beams, but that additional structure and insulation for the “foundation” of the trailer is going to be great. I also had the trailer manufacturer add tie down rods in the places that the design asked for, so that’s one less thing I have to do myself.
